The name JANESEED came about in 2010. I happen to share the same birthday as Johnny Appleseed, and I joked with friends that instead of planting apple seeds, I’d go around planting hemp seeds. The name stuck ever since.

I simply cannot define myself by limiting who I am to labels. I am many things—different things to different people. Nonetheless, one thing is certain: I am driven by creativity & imagination. I was raised in isolation—oftentimes without electricity—so I only had my imagination to entertain me. I read constantly, listened to music, found comfort in animals and the outdoors, and began drawing self-portraits and keeping journals at a very young age to help pass the time.
I would later take an interest in all aspects of music and guitar, as well as start capturing memories in any way possible, from poetry to photography. I often use pictures I’ve taken as inspiration for art projects. My style is reflective as it mirrors my soul—the shadow & the shine. My taste hasn’t seemed to have changed much since high-school, but it’s definitely evolved and continues to take shape through many forms.
Unlike the rest of my peers, I owned a camera before I owned a smart phone. From 2010 to 2014, I never left the house without my FujiFilm digital camera—marking the beginning of a full-blown infatuation with photography. A conversation by the ocean with the legendary 70’s groupie Pamela Des Barres in 2013 would later solidify my passion for music journalism.
I continue to dabble in all things art as I further my education through internships, freelance projects, and university studies.
Since my first semester of school in 2022, I have been freelancing and interning across various platforms as I continue to grow my portfolio and build my empire.
I hope this space can be a place for people to share, and find inspiration. I hope to eventually invite others to share and showcase their own passion projects.
